Anyway, I'm calling it "North Wind" because that has been what January has been so far: cold, snowy, wind from the north...
Still needs to be "finished" (binding and backing, maybe into a flat-fold):
Thanks for visiting my blog! This is where I'm going to post pics of my stitching. Enjoy your stay! Oh, so very North Wind!!! Just what we're having right now. Trick to smoothing curves is to come to the surface at either end of the curve and sew back through all the beads in the curve (without going into the fabric until you reach the end). If the curve still isn't smooth, go back through the whole thing again. This trick also works with straight lines. You might try using a thin, acid-free paper (sumi painting paper is available at many art supply shops, or you could order interleaving paper from my website ) as a backing/stabilizer. With paper, you won't have any tension problems and you won't need to use a hoop at all. Try it... I bet you'll like it! Also, if you want to know more about bead embroidery, you might take a look at my two books (One Bead at a Time and Heart to Hands Bead Embroidery). Didn't mean to do a sales pitch here... Your piece is very lovely and I really like the colors for the subject! Bravo! Robin A.
ReplyDeleteBrrrr! This very much conveys the North wind, Carol. I like it a lot. One of the things I like best about the BJP, is how we all do things differently. It makes it even more exciting. Just think how boring it would be if all our work was the same. By the way, I can heartily recommend Robin's books. I think I have all of them now. Great start to the year.
