It's that time again --- time to check in and confess that it's been ages since I last stitched on anything. I did try on a soon-to-be UFO back in February - all of 50 stitches before my hand, and patience with the backstitched letters, gave out. And all my good intentions have been stymied by lack of motivation. I really don't LIKE that WIP and the other BIG one I have in "progress" is all blackwork which I can't face right now (I KNOW my hand won't stand up to that frame...). I have been contemplating some smaller (11 x 14) needlepoint --- if I can get my hand to not cramp while holding the frames. We shall see. Maybe a New Year's resolution?
I have considered doing what Melissa did and declutter my stash. Not an easy task as there are threads that need sorting and that is my major downfall --- putting threads back when I finish a project! Also, my stitchery stash is only two cupboards (and a table top) in a space with two more cupboards of quilting supplies and two more cupboards ( and two table tops, to say nothing of a gazillion Iris carts) of mixed media supplies, all of which need a good sort-through as well. And given my age, all three categories of crafting mean I really shouldn't just sort and put away, I should DE-stash. After all, there is more there than I will EVER be able to complete in my remaining span of years. Again, a New Year's resolution? As for this month's question: "What finishing style have you never tried but would love to do?" To be honest I can't think of one. If you mean actual FINISH-finishing, I've done ornaments, banners, pillows, bookmarks, framed "pictures"... No afghans (not likely to either because of cats who are havoc on stitchery with their claws (for some reason, we have three related who were never told that claws were retractable - maybe it's genetic? -and so they velcro on EVERYTHING fabric!). SO I can't really think of a single technique that I haven't done and if there are those I haven't mentioned, it's because I haven't heard of them! So, on to December and here's hoping I have better news then! |
Thanks for visiting my blog! This is where I'm going to post pics of my stitching. Enjoy your stay! Note: Please do not ask me to send charts to you electronically; I respect and adhere to copyright laws, and in so doing, to send you an electronically reproduced chart would put me and you in violation of those laws. Similarly, I will not request charts from visitors to this blog.
